Lia Sophia
Yesterday was my Lia Sophia party. I did it after attending my friend Jen's... and it was fun... not only the jewelry but the fun of having a gathering of friends. So I said why not... and with Christmas time, it's a great time to shop.
Every party has to have it's "thing". And yes, the jewelry was the main draw, but not for me. I was anxiously looking forward to the chocolate fountain.
For those of you who don't know the history of the fountain: I wanted one for my wedding. However, due the style and layout of the reception, there wasn't any room for it :( So my friend, Barbara, gave me one as a shower gift. She actually bought 2, one for a smaller groups and one for larger and let me choose. I choose the larger one (b/c when chocolate is around, people will come). We attempted to use it for the first time back in February for Evan's Open House. However, it didn't work... and then Dan figured it out...
So yesterday, I laid out the fruit, the pretzel rods, the shortbread cookies and the mini-brownie muffins... and watched as the chocolate slowly rose and climbed and then began to overflow in a chocolate decadence... reminiscence of my visits to the factory at Hershey Park as a child.
And I do believe it was successful... both the fountain and the party. Didn't have enough wine-- who knew you'd need more for an afternoon shin-ding... but everyone had fun and that was my goal.
With the good there sometime comes bad.... and unfortunately, the bad came at the wee hours of this morning.... as the Red Sox crumbled in game 2 of the ALCS against the Cleveland Indians in extra innings. Not need to relive the moment... especially since I fell asleep in the 8th tied 6-6... but it was torture to watch I hear (from Dan). Good thing is that it is the best 4 out of 7 games... Good Sox in Cleveland!!!
