Our Winterized Cape Cod Adventure

Cape Cod in Winter.... who would've thunk it. Thanks to my dad, we had the opportunity to take a mini-vacation this past weekend. We had plenty of places to choose from, but we wanted someplace close in driving distance and nice (gold star quality). We wanted the Berkshires or VT or NH to experience snow, but there wasn't anything available for our time frame. But we found the Brewster Green Resort in Brewster, MA.

And the trip turned out to be everything we had expected it to be... with a little surprise of snowfall... near blizzard conditions.

We arrived late Friday night, just in time to settle in by the fireplace (which only was allowed to use "pressed wood" aka duraflame or pine mountain). Saturday we spent exploring the local areas of Brewster and Orleans. In Brewster, we found Drummer Boy Park. A great playground for Evan and the doggie obedience training which was taking place that morning.

We did some exploring of beaches like Breakwater Beach in Brewster and Nauset Beach in Orleans (I think). Yes it was cold.... yes, it was VERY cold!!! But seeing snow on the beach was something amazing..... well snow on the bay side beaches like Breakwater.

ooops.. my break is up.... back later...

Quick start to 2008

2008 is here and what a rapid speed it is here.... Evan started really walking on his own on Christmas Eve (see video) and that has left Dan and I chasing after him. He loves his independence and looks forward to all his new discoveries.

By Jan 5th, he was mastering climbing up the stairs at his Uncle's birthday party... and now he thinks he wants to try to climb back down. And just the other day, he pulled up a crate at daycare to climb onto the sofa... he's definitely fearless.

Now that Evan is confident in his walking skills, he's also taking a crack at talking. He babbles a lot and still only says mama and dada. But we have had incidents when he clearly has uttered "bath time", "yeah", "hi" and "bye"... but unfortunately, this has only happened once... so far. He doesn't say them often, but he speaks as clear as you and I.

Now that Evan is 14months, we are testing him with milk. He definitely has a milk allergy, but it appears that he's starting to tolerate milk products more and more and LOVES cheese... we gave him a spoonful of ice cream at the mall and he then began to stalk a little 6yr old for his Dairy Queen Blizzard... so I think Evan liked it.

There isn't too much new on the 'non baby front'.... well except our above the stove microwave broke. Good thing we have Dan's old one... but who know how much it'll cost to fix it... maybe cheaper to get a new one... but those aren't cheap...

And I'll end these thoughts on an important note.......

NY Giants vs. New England Patriots in the Superbowl on Feb. 3rd!!!! WHAT... the Giants?? They beat Dallas??? Green Bay??? well, if they could that, then they should be in the bowl... and I personally was routing for Green Bay for a couple reasons... (1) I wanted a rematch from a Superbowl many moons ago which Drew Bledsoe couldn't win (2) I think the Pats will have an easier time against Green Bay.... The Pats barely beat the Giants... who knows what will happen on Feb 3....
