Today's New London Day published that we had a son born at L&M on Nov. 14th. It seems so long ago. I look at Evan now and those first photos that first week of his life and am amazed about how much he's grown. I see the photos taken at Christmas when he was only 6 weeks old and he's gotten chubby (linebacker perhaps)... he has the chubby thighs and cheeks that just scream well fed baby. He's gaining neck control and can hold up his head pretty well as he looks around and absorbs his surroundings.

And the major milestone that just lights us up is his smile. I first saw it when he heard Dan's laugh on the phone. Then it was confirmed when we bought him a toy that giggles... Evan smiles.

Evan and I are getting used to our outings and getting around town. We visit friends in Hamden, go to the local WalMart and of course go walking around the neighborhood on nice days (haven't seen a "walking day" since earlier this month).

But what I am also getting used to is not getting as much done around the house and in life. I am learning the fine art of multi-tasking, but haven't gotten the hang of using just one hand. A friend of mine gave me her Baby Bjorn and swore by it. And it has definitely been a sanity item.

Evan loves his mommy & daddy and loves to be held all the time. Putting him down for naps is getting to be more of challenge. If it's not mommy's arms or his car/infant seat it is his highchair or the Baby Bjorn front carrier. He only likes his bassinet at night... if that. He sleeps in his crib or pack n play for only 5-30 minutes. But as we learn about each other, we are both adjusting and compromising... although I think he's winning his points more :) This week we are trying to get our house back into order... hasn't been since October. Let's hope Evan is up for that task as well.

Power of the PJs

As most of you by know by now, the New England Patriots lost in a devastatingly close game last night in the AFC Championship. And the lost to the Colts means a lot as we've always beaten the Colts in the Post-Season. Evan wore his PJs proudly as we gathered around the TV at Papa's house... but perhaps it wasn't the PJs alone... perhaps the PJs needed be worn at home :( Either way the Pats are not going to the Superbowl... but I like Peyton Manning and I'll be OK with it come Feb. 4th.

Speaking of Evan, he got his vaccinations on Thursday. As expected, he was grumpy and irritable for a day or so. He's been having difficulty sleeping at night, but as he weighed in that day at 9lbs 14oz, he isn't having difficulty eating. He's already out of his newborn diapers and clothing and some of his 0-3months are getting snug (thanks to the help of the dryer). But he's growing so fast, his face changes every time you see him.

We also had a nice first this past weekend: Date night for mom & dad. Well, close enough to a date. Evan spent some quality time with his Grandma & Grandpa as Dan and I went to the movies down the street. It was definitely an anxious moment for us, but we all survived and will be doing it again. Evan enjoyed his new surroundings and loved being doted on by his Grandparents (who doesn't, right??).

I don't think there are any new photos of Evan on the site, but we'll make sure we'll have some new ones uploaded for the next entry.

I hope everyone (in the CT) enjoyed the snow this morning. Just enough to cover the ground but not cause any problems. I guess winter was delayed... we've had the cold and now comes the snow.

Oh.. and to answer the #1 question being asked about Evan: No, he isn't sleeping through the night. But he does sleep a good 3 hours at least, so that is a blessing for me. Evan is napping which means it is now time for me to nap.

Guess winter has arrived in New England. We had some nice days these past couple of weeks, but looks like the cold is setting in. Evan has seen snow, but not sure I want him to this winter. Speaking of Evan, he is now 8 weeks old. And has he grown. You can see the fullness in his cheeks and the fat is starting on his little thighs. I haven't compared him to pictures from just 4wks ago, but I know there's a difference. He'll get weighed today and I am guessing he'll be around 8lbs 13oz.

We survived our first road trip with Evan. As parents, it was a learning experience. It took us way too long to actually get ready and out the door in the morning. So much so it was practically afternoon by the time we hit the road. We stop and fed Evan in the McDonald's parking lot off the turnpike. Wish I got a photo of me trying to change him on bucket seats... not easy when the seats are tilted.

Evan enjoyed his visit and slept most of his time there. He did wake up the household once and it wasn't a pretty diaper change... mother's really love their kids to go through this... makes me appreciate my mother more and more everyday. As expected, Evan wore his patriots PJs on Sunday and it payed off... the Patriots won and are on their way to San Diego to face the Chargers... yikes.. hope Evan's good luck charm pays off.

Happy Wednesday to all and we hope to have some new photos by the weekend.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year!!!!

I hope every one's New Year is off to a Happy start and enjoying the delay in winter (b/c we know it will eventually come to New England). It's been a quiet start of the new year as Dan has returned to work since Evan's been home and I'm trying to get into some type of routine. Not successful yet, but hopefully will accomplish it in the the next couple of weeks.... only to have it changed I am sure.

Yesterday, my friend Laurie came down with her 8.5month old son Christopher and we went walking around the neighborhood... it was Evan's first walk in his stroller and it was a perfect day for it. And he really did enjoy the fresh air and the walk... but him to sleep and gave mommy some exercise. And today we ventured out to the mall. What a surreal experience to be amongst the many mommies with strollers... Evan liked the walking around, but didn't like it when I stopped to shop... needless to say, I didn't get to buy anything, but it was a good showing for his first trip to a public place...then after an hour, he get hungry and it was rapid time we needed to get home.

Tomorrow will mark yet another first for Evan and his parents... we are all traveling to NJ to visit Joe for his birthday. Is it too soon to travel 100+ miles with a 7.5wk year old infant... guess we'll find out :) We hope to get Evan used to traveling and show him as much of the world as we can in his lifetime.. and we are starting with NJ.

Time to feed the baby....
